Entertainment Weekly announced this morning that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey would reprise their hosting duties for not just this year, but for the next two years. What the what?! You hear that? That's the sound of me dancing like a fool around my cubicle at work. Last year, the duo received rave reviews, and they managed over 19 million viewers, the higest ratings in six years.
In case you needed reminding...
One of the best things about this news is that not only are Poehler and Fey returning, but Ellen DeGeneres is hosting the Oscars. I think this is the first time that the two biggest film award shows are being hosted by women. That's awesome!
Fey and Poehler really played with the audience during the Golden Globes. They were able to stay funny and take jabs at the audience, but they didn't get as venomous as Ricky Gervais did in the two years before them. They donned disguises and pretended to be nominees in some categories, and the web was ablaze with funny clips the day after.
The Golden Globes is the drunkest awards party of the year. Bring it on, ladies!
