Waiting for Gadot?

It was unexpectedly announced today that Batman vs. Superman, the sequel to this summer's Man of Steel and ire to fanboys everywhere, has cast its Wonder Woman in Gal Gadot.  Well, maybe the internet was ready for an announcement, but I wasn't following it.  Color me surprised!

Gal Gadot is most known for her role in the Fast and the Furious franchise (she joined the series in 2009 as Vin Diesel's love interest).  A former Miss Israel, Gadot represented her home country in the Miss Universe pageant in 2004.  This is the role of a lifetime, and it kind of surprising that they didn't go with a bigger name

Is Wonder Woman one of the most difficult roles to cast?  The reboot television series (starring Adrianne Palicki) was set to debut in 2011, but NBC passed on it.  Everyone from Megan Fox to Jaimie Alexander have been rumored as the superhero.  Is this an impossible part to cast?  EW has a piece about the casting of Gadot in the role.

This is a bad comparison, but it's one that I can think of off the top of my head.  You know how people always say no one can play Marilyn Monroe?  No matter who plays her, no one ever gets her just right.  Is it the same about Wonder Woman?  She's one of the most powerful and iconic female superheroes out there, and I am excited to FINALLY get her on the big screen?

What do you think about Gadot?
