It's been a really tragic week, hasn't it? Lauren Bacall died yesterday at the age of 89. It's hard to believe that Bacall never won an Academy Award. She came closest in 1997, but Juliette Binoche stole her thunder. Binoche even mentioned Bacall in her acceptance speech.
As an alumni of Hollywood's Golden Age, Bacall starred in more than 60 films. Bacall has been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt. She starred with great leading men, and she maintained her whiplash-inducing wit well into her 80's.
Bacall was awarded an honorary Oscar in 2009, and she's just a wonder to listen to at the microphone.
